Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Measuring cups
  • 1 Measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 large - about 1 lb cauliflower head, cut into florets
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour - or gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder - for flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika - for extra color and flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt - to taste
  • 1/2 cup water - to create a batter
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce - such as Frank's RedHot
  • 2 tablespoons melted vegan butter - optional, for added richness

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and water. Whisk until smooth.
  • Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, ensuring it's well-coated, then place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cauliflower is crispy and golden brown.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the hot sauce and melted vegan butter. Once the cauliflower is done, toss it in this spicy mixture.
  • Return the coated cauliflower to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5 minutes for extra crispiness.
  • Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

This dish can be easily made vegan by using a dairy-free yogurt. You can also adjust the spice level by using more or less hot sauce.
For a perfect crunch, coat the cauliflower well with the batter and avoid overcrowding the baking sheet.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven for a crispy texture.
