This Simple Basil Pesto Sauce is quick to make and adds a refreshing burst of flavor to pasta and sandwiches. With just a handful of ingredients, you can whip it up in no time!
1/2cupgrated Parmesan cheese - freshly grated for best flavor
1/2cupextra virgin olive oil - adds richness
1/3cuppine nuts - or substitute with walnuts
2clovesgarlic - peeled
1/2teaspoonsalt - to taste
1/4teaspoonblack pepper - to taste
Instructions
In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, Parmesan cheese, pine nuts, garlic, salt, and pepper.
Pulse until the ingredients are finely chopped.
With the processor running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until the pesto reaches your desired consistency.
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve immediately over pasta or spread on sandwiches.
Notes
For variations, try adding nuts like walnuts or almonds for different flavors. You can also substitute spinach or arugula for some of the basil for a unique twist.
