Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Plastic wrap
  • Cast iron skillet or grill
  • Tongs

Ingredients

  • 4 8 oz steaks - ribeye, strip, or flank
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 2 garlic cloves - minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp honey
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the red wine, coffee, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and honey.
  • Season the steaks with salt and pepper on both sides, then add them to the marinade.
  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the steaks marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or up to overnight.
  • Heat a cast iron skillet or grill to medium-high heat.
  • Remove the steaks from the marinade, shaking off any excess, and brush with olive oil on both sides.
  • Cook the steaks for about 5-6 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer for your desired level of doneness.
  • Let the steaks rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Try marinating the steak overnight for a deeper flavor.
For a twist, add crushed garlic or fresh herbs to the marinade.
Make sure to let the steak rest after cooking to allow the juices to redistribute.
