Garnish of choice (such as a sprig of mint or lemon peel)
Ingredients
2ozbourbon
1tspsuperfine sugar
8-10fresh mint leaves
Crushed ice
Club soda - optional
Instructions
In a cocktail shaker, gently muddle together the mint leaves and sugar.
Add the bourbon and fill the shaker with ice.
Shake until well chilled.
Fill a julep cup or highball glass with crushed ice.
Strain the cocktail over the ice.
If desired, top off with a splash of club soda.
Garnish with a sprig of mint or a lemon peel.

Notes
For a non-alcoholic version, substitute bourbon with ginger ale or lemon-lime soda.You can also make a batch of Mint Juleps in a pitcher by multiplying the recipe and serving in a punch bowl with a large block of ice.For a twist on the classic, try using different types of mint or adding a splash of fruit juice (such as peach or raspberry) for a fruity twist.
