Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon - optional

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine all the spices and mix well.
  • For a smoother texture, you can grind the spices using a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.
  • Use the spice rub immediately or store in an airtight container for later use.
  • To use, generously rub the spice mixture onto your desired meat before grilling or smoking.

Notes

For a sweeter spice rub, add a little bit of brown sugar or honey.
For a spicier kick, increase the amount of cayenne pepper.
You can also adjust the proportions of the spices to suit your personal taste preferences.
This spice rub also works well on vegetables and tofu.
For a richer flavor, toast the spices in a dry pan for a few minutes before mixing them together.
