  • 2 tablespoons chili powder - adjust based on spice preference
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin - adds warm flavor
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder - adds depth
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder - adds sweetness
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt - to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper - to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper - optional, for heat
  • 2 cups tomato sauce - base for the sauce

Instructions

  • Add the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the tomato sauce and vegetable broth, whisking until well combined.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary. Remove from heat and let cool before using or storing.

Notes

This enchilada sauce can be adjusted based on your spice preference. You can add more chili powder for a spicier sauce or reduce it for a milder flavor.
