Equipment

  • 1 Blender
  • 1 Nut Milk Bag or Cheese Cloth
  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Container with lid for storage

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 150g raw almonds (soaked in water for at least 8 hours)
  • 4 cups 960ml water (plus more for soaking)

Instructions

  • Soak the almonds in water overnight or for at least 8 hours.
  • Drain and rinse the soaked almonds, and transfer them to a blender.
  • Add 4 cups of fresh water to the blender.
  • Blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes until the almonds are broken down and the mixture looks milky and frothy.
  • Place the nut milk bag or cheese cloth over a bowl, pour the blended mixture into the cloth, and squeeze out the milk thoroughly.
  • Store the almond milk in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days.

Notes

For best results, soak the almonds overnight, which makes them softer and easier to blend.
If you want flavored almond milk, try adding a pinch of vanilla extract or a tablespoon of sweetener such as maple syrup or agave.
Almond milk can separate, so shake well before use.
You can save the almond pulp for baking or adding to smoothies to reduce food waste!
