Ingredients
  

For the Calamari:

  • 1 pound calamari - cut into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Lemon Aioli:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cloves of garlic - minced
  • 1 lemon - juiced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, garlic powder, and paprika.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to make the lemon aioli. Set aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  • Working in batches, coat the calamari rings in the flour mixture and shake off any excess. Place them in the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Using tongs, remove the calamari from the oil and place them on a baking sheet lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
  • Serve the fried calamari hot with the lemon aioli on the side for dipping.

Notes

Make sure to pat dry the calamari rings before coating them in flour to ensure a crispy final result.
You can also add some red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the flour mixture for some extra heat.
Serve with a squeeze of lemon juice on top for a brighter citrus flavor.
