Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf - about 12 slices of brioche or challah bread (cut into cubes)
  • 6 large eggs - beaten
  • 2 cups whole milk - or milk of choice
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup - for serving
  • Fresh fruit - for serving, optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  • Add the cubed bread to the mixing bowl and gently stir until all the bread is soaked in the egg mixture.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup and top with fresh fruit if desired.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead of time. Simply prepare it the night before, cover, and refrigerate. Bake in the morning for a warm breakfast.
For more flavor, consider adding toppings like chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or diced apples.
