Ingredients
  

  • 2 medium onions - sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil - for caramelizing onions
  • 8 ounces cream cheese - softened
  • 1 cup sour cream - can substitute with Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Chopped chives - for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sliced onions. Cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onions are caramelized and golden brown.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  • Add the caramelized onions to the cream cheese mixture and stir until well combined.
  • Transfer the dip to a serving dish and garnish with chopped chives.
  • Serve with chips, crackers, or fresh veggies.

Notes

This onion dip can be made ahead of time and refrigerated until serving. You can substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream for a lighter version.
For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or some chopped jalapeños.
Try using different types of onions, such as sweet onions or red onions, for varied flavors.
