Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Strainer
  • Rocks glass
  • Ice cubes
  • Jigger or measuring cup

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces amaretto
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 egg white - optional
  • Cherry - for garnish
  • Ice

Instructions

  • Fill the cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Add 2 ounces of amaretto, 1 ounce of lemon juice, and 1/2 ounce of simple syrup to the shaker.
  • If desired, add 1 egg white to the shaker for a frothier texture.
  • Close the shaker and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
  • Place a strainer over the rocks glass and strain the cocktail into the glass.
  • If using an egg white, gently tap the strainer on the edge of the glass to release any remaining foam.
  • Garnish with a cherry on top.
  • Enjoy your Amaretto Sour!

Notes

For a stronger drink, use 3 ounces of amaretto instead of 2.
You can also add a splash of club soda for a bubbly twist.
To make a non-alcoholic version, substitute the amaretto with almond syrup and use a splash of lemon juice instead of 1 ounce.
This recipe can also be made in a blender for a frozen version.
Pro tip: To get a perfectly frothy cocktail, dry shake (without ice) the amaretto and lemon juice first for 15 seconds before adding ice and shaking again.
