These delicious balsamic-glazed grilled sweet onions are the perfect side dish for any summer barbecue. The tangy balsamic glaze pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the onions, creating a mouthwatering flavor sensation.
Peel and cut the onions into thick slices, about 1/2 inch thick.
In a small saucepan, mix together the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper. Cook over medium heat until the sauce begins to thicken, about 5 minutes.
Brush the onion slices with the balsamic glaze on both sides.
Place the onion slices on the preheated grill and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until lightly charred.
While grilling, continue to baste the onions with the remaining balsamic glaze.
Once the onions are cooked, remove them from the grill and transfer to a plate.
Garnish with fresh chopped herbs (optional) and serve hot.
