Serving and Pairing Suggestions

Serve the Classic Amaretto Sour over ice in a rocks glass, garnished with a slice of lemon or a cherry for a pop of color.

This cocktail pairs beautifully with appetizers like Bruschetta or Cheesy Garlic Bread, making it a perfect choice for happy hours or casual get-togethers. For a fun twist, enjoy it alongside light desserts such as Lemon Bars or Chocolate Covered Strawberries.

Tips and Notes

  • Amaretto: Use a high-quality amaretto liqueur for the best flavor. Brands like Disaronno offer a smooth, rich taste that enhances the cocktail.
  • Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice makes a significant difference in flavor. Avoid bottled lemon juice for the best taste.
  • Simple Syrup: If you prefer a sweeter drink, adjust the amount of simple syrup based on your taste. You can easily make simple syrup by dissolving equal parts sugar and water over low heat.
  • Shaking: Shake the ingredients well with ice to chill the drink and mix the flavors thoroughly. Strain into a glass filled with fresh ice for a refreshing experience.
  • Storage: While best enjoyed fresh, if you have leftovers, store the mixed drink in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Shake well before serving again.

Enjoy the sweet and tangy delight of a Classic Amaretto Sour as a refreshing addition to your cocktail collection!

  • Ice

Instructions

  • Fill the cocktail shaker with ice.

  • Place a strainer over the rocks glass and strain the cocktail into the glass.
  • If using an egg white, gently tap the strainer on the edge of the glass to release any remaining foam.

Notes

For a stronger drink, use 3 ounces of amaretto instead of 2.
You can also add a splash of club soda for a bubbly twist.
To make a non-alcoholic version, substitute the amaretto with almond syrup and use a splash of lemon juice instead of 1 ounce.
This recipe can also be made in a blender for a frozen version.
Pro tip: To get a perfectly frothy cocktail, dry shake (without ice) the amaretto and lemon juice first for 15 seconds before adding ice and shaking again.
